Brainstorming your Website Topic

Many people know they want to start a website to make money online before they know what they want to base their website on. If you are one of these people, you will benefit from some of these creative brainstorming ideas to help you get on the right path in finding your website niche.

  1. Take a look at your life

The first step in finding your niche is to take a look into your own life. A topic you are educated on, experienced with or have a great interest in might be the best choice for you. Do you enjoy a specific sport? Are you a health nut? Do you know ways of beating people at chess that might be unknown to the world? These and many more questions should be asked before you move on to the next step.

  1. Think about a common problem to solve or a question to answer

Is there something you have been wondering about for the longest time that you haven’t been able to find the answer or solution to? Chances are there are millions of people out there who are looking for the same answer or solution. Go with this step if you are excellent at research and plan on doing a lot of work in order to come up with a new and creative solution to a problem people face.

  1. Take out a sheet of blank paper

This step is helpful for those who are visual learners. Take out a blank sheet of paper and a pen or pencil and just start writing. Don’t stop or scratch out anything you write. You might want to get a very large piece of paper and you will be surprised at how much you come up with. Don’t stop writing and if you run out of things to write, just write “keep thinking” over and over until your brain catches up and starts giving you more ideas.

  1. Ask Friends and Family

Sometimes our loved ones might be able to offer some outside input. It seems that others seem to know us more than we know ourselves when we are pressuring ourselves to do something. You might learn that your loved ones think you are an expert at something you haven’t thought of yet, and this could end up being the perfect topic for your website.

If after you’ve tried all of these, you are still unsure about your topic, you should try doing some research on Google Adsense to see if you can find some topic ideas there. You can find a list of the most commonly searched for keywords to see what is in demand. You can then check out the competing websites to get ideas for your own website. If you really want to succeed in making money from a website, you want to make sure that whatever niche you decide on is changed at least slightly. Putting a new spin on a topic will give you an edge no one else has.
